Shortly after the pandemic, I was connected by the director Dejan Babosek, who invited me to collaborate on a film, and this time not just as an actress but also as a co-screenwriter. This was a project that took me out of my comfort zone because, at that time, I was tired of naturalistic acting. Therefore, this project was a soothing balm for the soul. The film will be in Cineplexx cinemas starting from February 22, 2024
About the movie:
Kevin and Mia are con artists, a modern-day Bonnie & Clyde, seducing and robbing wealthy women, divorcees, and widows. Due to Kevin’s insatiable sexual appetite and Mia’s pathological jealousy, their attempt to rob the wealthy seductress Emma goes awry. Believing they have killed her, they drive deep into a remote forest to bury her body. Meanwhile, as they dig the grave, Emma wakes up and escapes. Kevin and Mia embark on a hunt for her, initiating a cat-and-mouse game, a struggle between life and death, where nothing is as it initially seems.
About the Film “Jama” is a dark comedy intertwined with elements of crime, spaghetti western, and horror-slasher. It’s a cocktail of film genres not typically associated with Slovenian cinema, making it suitable for Slovenian audiences seeking something fresh and different. The creators drew inspiration from films by Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Sergio Leone, and exploitation films from the ’70s and ’80s.
The primary purpose of the film is to entertain the audience, with its message distilled from the old saying, “He who digs a pit for others falls into it himself.”
Production “Jama” is the latest film by Dejan Babosek, the director of the successful film “Preboj,” which was watched by almost 20,000 viewers in Slovenian cinemas. The film also found success internationally, being sold for distribution in numerous global markets, including the USA, Canada, South Korea, Japan, the UK, China, Vietnam, Latin America, Germany, Austria, Poland, Taiwan, and the Scandinavian countries, positioning it among the most successful Slovenian films. At the 23rd Festival of Slovenian Film, it won two awards: Vesna for the best film by audience choice and Vesna for special achievement.
